It's like Picasso said, you can't break the rules if you don't know them.Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00954290219187204191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19908210.post-3261208286136923412007-06-26T10:51:00.000-04:002007-06-26T10:51:00.000-04:00My point being that the dadaism movement was a lit...My point being that the dadaism movement was a little less than a "mere century ago" in an era of such cultural output as The Birth of a Nation.Alarichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05441771887982344692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19908210.post-85065764756583186312007-06-26T09:35:00.000-04:002007-06-26T09:35:00.000-04:00Well, you could argue that dadaism reflected a cer...Well, you could argue that dadaism reflected a certain disillusionment with the state of the world and the status quo of the time, in the same way that modern versions of "non-art" do the same. Perhaps it is the artists themselves, who, by placing a cross in a jar of urine, are lamenting the slow rotting collapse of society rather than celebrating it(How quaintly reactionary). I don't think the dadaists were particularily happy about the state of the world that was conducive to the horrors of WWI. If the purpose of art is to speak truth, don't you think that a cross in a jar of urine bears some reflection of the (perpetual)state of humanity?Alarichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05441771887982344692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19908210.post-37277011935549257512007-06-25T19:18:00.000-04:002007-06-25T19:18:00.000-04:00Quite relevant for this article, eh?Quite relevant for this article, eh?Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00954290219187204191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19908210.post-75993831599840037612007-06-25T14:55:00.000-04:002007-06-25T14:55:00.000-04:00What about Dadaism? What about Dadaism?Alarichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05441771887982344692noreply@blogger.com
