Der Struwwelpeter was a book my Oma used to read to me when I was little. I sucked my thumb and she would make sure to tell me the story of Die Geschichte vom Daumenlutscher and i would freak out all night about it.
I can see how that would induce nightmares!
I really liked the first book. It was scary yet I was very curious about it!
